A Ministry of Edmonton Central SDA

Community Services

Faith with hands and feet. We meet real needs in Edmonton through food security, neighbour care, and tangible acts of service that reflect the love of Christ.

Department Lead

Irene Barankariza

Sister Irene leads our Community Services ministry with vision, organization, and the kind of leadership that turns ideas into action. She is the heartbeat behind our outreach initiatives.

What We Do

Community Services is the outreach arm of our church. We organize the work of compassion, from large-scale food drives in partnership with the Edmonton Food Bank, to quiet acts of care for families in crisis. We mobilize volunteers, coordinate with community partners, and steward the practical side of loving our neighbours.

Food Security

Food drives, pantry support, and partnerships with the Edmonton Food Bank and ADRA Canada.

Neighbour Care

Door-to-door outreach, visitation, hospital ministry, and support for families in crisis.

Disaster Response

Mobilizing our church family to respond when our community faces hardship.

Volunteer Coordination

Equipping and organizing volunteers across every department to serve as one body.

What We’ve Been Up To

This spring, Community Services led Central Hope Food Drive 2026, a two-Sabbath community outreach in partnership with the Edmonton Food Bank and ADRA Canada. Six elder teams, dozens of volunteers, and a whole church family in motion.
