Where a child’s faith starts
Aurora Borealis is the Adventurer Club of Edmonton Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, for children aged 4 to 9. Adventurers is the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s club programme for the youngest members, and it is deliberately built around families rather than around drop-off.
Meetings are short, warm, and hands-on: a Bible story, a craft, a song, a game, and a patch to sew onto the sash when a new skill is learned. Parents stay and take part, which is rather the point. The habits that hold in adolescence are usually the ones a child watched their parents practise first.
What Adventurers do
The club year follows the school year, with Sabbath afternoon meetings, family nights, and a few larger events. In May 2026 the club held its World Adventurer Day Sabbath service and joined the Pathfinders for a combined outdoor potluck.
Adventurer classes run by age: Little Lamb, Eager Beaver, Busy Bee, Sunbeam, Builder, and Helping Hand. Each has its own set of awards to work through.

Questions parents ask
How old does my child need to be?
Adventurers is for children aged 4 to 9. From age 10 they move up to our Northern Lights Pathfinder Club, which camps, marches, and earns honours.
Do parents stay during meetings?
Yes. Adventurers is designed as a family club, and a parent or guardian attends with their child. It is one of the things that makes the programme work, and most parents end up enjoying it as much as the children do.
Do we need to be Seventh-day Adventist?
No. Every family is welcome, whatever your background or church connection. Bible stories are part of what we do, and no one is asked to be anything other than themselves.
Where and when does the club meet?
Aurora Borealis meets on Sabbath afternoon at Edmonton Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10131 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton. Call 780-420-0215 for the current meeting time.
What does it cost?
There is a modest annual club fee, and the uniform sash is purchased separately. If cost is a barrier, speak to the church office. It is handled quietly and no child is turned away for it.
